Making it easier to learn or progress thoughts and actions

Do you need a facilitator who has both imagination and restraint?

A good facilitator will add to a session imaginatively, but prevent themselves from dominating or leading the thought process

Many organisations use an external facilitator to add value to regular group workshops or meetings, as well as in the traditional training and development context. Why? Because the overall aim is for the group to make the discoveries, discuss the things they need to, consider them and decide on positive actions as a result. The facilitator's job is to:

  • set and maintain an appropriate atmosphere
  • challenge where necessary
  • suggest techniques for the group to use in their deliberations
  • offer scenarios that will clarify things for the group
  • maintain a focus on the agreed agenda and results

I have had many years experience facilitating groups of all sizes and levels, and always aim to stick to the true meaning of the role. That is why I believe that a facilitator must display both imagination and restraint, particularly in the field of both indoor and outdoor experiential learning, where good use of tasks will provide learning that can be transferred to many situations.

I am able to work alone or alongside your training team to help transfer the skills that you need, and am available on an ad-hoc or long term basis. Do also consider the section on training delivery to compare that service.
